To Grandmother's House We Go.....

Jack will be spending Fridays with Grandma Gloria this summer. It's such a wonderful setup – she gets to hang out with the fun little guy and I get a nice break in my week. He has been in such a good mood lately and is really a lot of fun. He especially liked his new toys:

I did not see the hammer toy in action, but I understand he liked it quite a bit.

He also took a look at the flowers in Great Grandma's yard:

They are smart to put him in the stroller, because I know he would rip those flowers right off the plants if given the chance.

Still Jack is not interested in crawling. He just wants to stand up and walk out the door like a normal human. And forget trying to pull yourself up on something, he just wants to stand, darn it. Here you can see his efforts in action:

But then he gets tired and lies on the floor, although his hand is still in motion:

I've officially declared Jack to have a sleeping problem. He gets up too much in the night – he is not hungry or wet or sick or anything, he's just waking up. So we are consulting different sleep plan methods to teach him to sleep better and they are all difficult and stressful. Last night we tried a method of Ferberization recommended by the pediatrician. When he wakes up at the unappointed time you let him fuss for ten minutes, go in to pat him and tell him to go back to sleep and then leave for ten more minutes. We did this for an hour last night and it was just awful. He would scream bloody murder when we left the room.

Tonight we're supposed to wait 15 minutes before going in to pat him. The thing is, he just sits in his crib and screams, it's hard to imagine how he's ever going to go to sleep by himself.

The good news is he slept from 11 to 4:30 a.m. This is almost unheard of and I was happy to get the sleep myself.

Hopefully tonight is easier. I'm not good at the letting him cry thing.
