Joe Likes Clementine Too

Joe came home a little after 3 yesterday to celebrate his trial being over. I told him his eyes reminded me of Jack when he is super sleepy but doesn’t necessarily want to go to sleep. I threatened to swaddle him and sing softly in his ear, but it turns out that wasn’t necessary. He was so tired from the few weeks worth of work that he collapsed in the chair after dinner.

Poor guy. I think he's going to take most of the weekend off as well. We dropped Jack off at Grandma Gloria's this morning so we both have the day free. I've already taken a nap and plan on taking another one this afternoon.

So I realized yesterday that Jack CAN put himself to sleep, he just needs something to look at while doing it. The ceiling fan or his broken mobile seem to work just fine.

See? That's him, asleep on his own in the crib. So my new theory was that he was waking up in the night, couldn't see anything, and therefore couldn't put himself back to sleep. So this time when he went down, I left the light on in the hall and kept his door open enough to give him a little bit of light.

Wouldn't you know, he slept until he was hungry? It was a relief to not get up every hour to put him back to sleep. He's still not making it six hours or anything, but it was a bit closer. So tonight we'll try it again and see what happens. I guess we can buy a night light as well, or a low watt bulb and a lamp. I have heard bad things about night lights in that they cause your vision to be bad later, so I'll have to do a little more research before getting the right one.

Ok, I'm off to take another rest and then get a few errands done before the boy gets back.
