It's Just a Job.....
As I was feeding the little man around five this morning, I had a revelation. If I had a normal job and came home after a bad day and wrote about it, no one would be alarmed. I could say “My day was hard. My boss screamed at me all afternoon. I don’t know if I’m very good at my work.” And that would be the end of it. But as a new mother if I do this, people get all up in arms.
Oh my god! Is Brooke okay? Do you think she has post-partum depression? Do you think we should worry?
Just for the record, I am not crazy or depressed or miserable. I figured I should clarify.
Now that we’ve cleared that up. Jack and I went knitting yesterday and I forgot my camera! It’s really too bad too, because Pam got to hold him and he was looking all cute. Shannon did take a picture of him sleeping:
I’ve given up on napping in the crib in the afternoon. For some reason he’s fine with it in the morning, he’s fine going to sleep at night, but the afternoon he screams bloody murder. So I put him in the car seat next to the dogs and he was happy as a little clam:
If you see the dogs in the background, Guido is curled up in the baby sling. Good thing Jack isn’t allergic to dogs or we would all be in trouble.
Gloria called me today and she’s off work on Thursday. She wants to take the little guy to hang out with the great grandparents. Yay! I think this time I will just come home and nap after I drop him off. I know it doesn’t sound very exciting, but a few hours of uninterrupted sleep could do me wonders. Or I may go to the yarn store with Kim if she has a baby sitter.
When Joe got home last night the baby was in a great mood (thanks to the nap in the car seat). He was laughing and smiling up a storm. This, my friends, is what makes it all worth it.

I spend a large portion of every day trying to achieve the same level of pure joy that Jack is feeling in those last two photos. Maybe I should just try crack?
