The Science of Babies

Jack had a very weird day yesterday. He slept almost the entire day, which is unusual. He also spit up his entire meal in the afternoon but didn’t seem hungry afterwards, and then slept almost 4 hours! Of course that meant he was up a lot at night, and now he looks like he wants to sleep again all day. I may take him out later just to keep him awake a bit.

Kim was laughing at me for going off caffeine. She said "There is no science to how a newborn sleeps." She may be right.

He also has baby acne, but it’s started to go into his hair, which might be a sign of allergy to something I’m eating. The Baby Book suggests it might have to do with me eating cows milk products. Who knows? Here is a picture, just to give you an idea:

We go back to the doctor in a few weeks, so if it isn’t cleared up by then I’ll see what he thinks.

We’re having better luck on the pumping front – I now have enough milk so we can go to the play and the wedding this weekend and not worry. For some reason my brother thought I said I was going AWAY for the weekend and leaving the baby. Not hardly. I’m leaving him for maybe 4 hours, which is a lot for me. I’ll probably be a wreck by the time we get home, but I’m sure he will be fine and happy with his grandparents. (He ALWAYS behaves for the relatives.)

While I was photographing his bumps this morning he started making cute faces, so here is one I caught:

I wonder when he’ll start to laugh? I wish he could talk, it would be so much easier.
